Subdivision HRIA
Small developers often have unique limitations in terms of size, finances, and time. Altamira Consulting Ltd. understands these limitations and we are committed to working with our clients to find a solution that satisfies all government requirements while still remaining within the client's budget.
In 2008, Altamira Consulting Ltd. was contracted by ArtCo to conduct an HRIA for a small subdivision of Hilliard's Bay Estates on the north shore of Lesser Slave Lake. The developer's short development window meant that the work on this 45 hectare quarter section on the lakeshore had to be accomplished in a timely fashion. After an initial brief survey of the land, Altamira Consulting Ltd. set a plan of action in place to test all areas of high potential while visually surveying all previously disturbed areas and relocating previously discovered sites. This methodology greatly diminished the scope of the survey and allowed us to finish within a reasonable amount of time and enabled to developper to continue the project on budget. Altamira Consulting Ltd. found a number of archaeological sites, both historic and prehistoric. They were all recorded and after further review found to be of limited archaeological potential and the development project was able to begin without any further work.
